The Bridges of Light Campaign (www.thebridgesoflight.com)is raising funds to place programmable LED lights on the bridges of Daytona. Light sculptures have proven (USA,Europe, China) to increase community well-being, attract visitors and build social capital. Making any city happier through public art works and in this case providing a flexible toolkit usable in a multitude of events 365 days a year is a valuable asset for any city to have. Public artworks of a comparable nature (light bridges) have become proven success stories, and also had surprising side-effects. Real estate values have risen and visitor levels have increased. This shows that any initial investment provides a far great return-on-investment, benefitting the local residents as well as the business community.
