the bridge is always a dangerous belvedere! brezoianu street is a rift between two different areas of bucharest, a dry canyon, or a canyon that has dried up. we used trees as working material for the street. we located them on the cornices of houses in order to re-bring the wind sound and the horizon image into the mineral and sculptural deeps of the street. the bridge is an urban room. for this we used the least conventional material - water. the bridge consists of two twin beams thrown over the river, like the phoenicians's vegetal ropes from herodotus's history that we used as inspiration, linked by a dense net: a large deck, a lookout, recreation and playground. water will activate the bridge, with visual and acoustic role, and will become the main material of the project . the route will become a sensory route, based on image and sound, a concept that we've called "urban canyoneering".
